Do not hope that an airline will make you as comfortable as necessary on a flight. If you really need headphones, a blanket and a pillow to be comfortable while flying, you should bring your own on board with you. You should also plan to bring a few airline approved snacks along in case the airline meals are a flop.

If you are planning on spending money on a cruise, you better know beforehand if you are prone to getting seasick. That could make your cruise impossible to enjoy. You will be, more than likely, sick in bed for the duration of your vacation. To save money on costly medical expenses, you should get medication beforehand and take it with you on the cruise.

You can have a great deal of fun at travel locations near your home. It is entirely possible to have a great time in your home state. Travel expenses can be greatly reduced by staying in your home state with the added benefit that you will be supporting local merchants, restaurants and attractions. You might find a great place to visit right near home.

Booking your travel plans online is virtually a one stop shop for your vacation planning. Online travel sites are one of the easiest ways to put together your entire travel itinerary. Booking flights, hotels or rental cars can all be done on the Internet. You also have access to reviews and photos of the hotels. You can also find excellent deals on good travel sites. For example, you might find a good discount for travel plans made at the last minute.

Think about using an auto transport company to take your own car with you! These can often work out as cost effective as renting a car and you have the added bonus of knowing how to drive your own vehicle.

Consider using E-tracking when it is available on a travel site. This will let you know how you should travel if you want to save the most money. It also emails you when the flights you like have dropped in price.

When you go on a trip, dont forget your contact lens case. These can be used to carry small amounts of gels or lotions that you may want, and save you a lot of space in your suitcases.

No matter what the time is in your home-land, make sure you stay out of bed until 8pm local time. This will help you assimilate to the new time zone much quicker, and help to ward off jet lag. If you feel tired because of the change in time zone you can make it worse by going to bed too early. If you can quickly adjust to the new time, you will beat jet lag.

Prior to traveling to another country, get a voltage converter at a local electronics store. If you wait and then end up purchasing an adapter from the airport or hotel, you can expect to pay double or even triple the normal price.

If you wear corrective lenses, pack an extra pair of eyeglasses when traveling. This way, if your glasses break on your flight or on your trip, you have a spare pair. Do not pack your extra glasses in your carry on luggage in case it gets stolen.

When youre traveling, know where your most important belongings are at all times. If you have a purse, keep it close to your body with your arm on it at all times. You should avoid carrying bags with a zipper that is easy to get into because thieves could easily unzip the bag in a crowded location and steal important items. Always consider these things before purchasing your travel bags.

Get a good workout in before leaving on a flight. This will help you avoid the tediousness of long flights. Having to remain seated in one position that long can give you cramps in your back and legs. To eliminate back and leg pain, stretch and do a light workout to prepare for your flight.

The tips listed here surely will help you set goals for your upcoming travel plans, whether you plan to travel your country of go abroad. Get out and start your adventure. Traveling is truly interesting and fulfilling.

If there were every two words that went together, they are “holiday” and “travel”. They can be a pain in the neck during the holidays if you travel with kids.

Holiday Travel

I happen to be a big fan of the Christmas televisions shows. I happily admit that I am still a fan of the Grinch, the island of toys and, of course, Rudolf. Alas, one can’t help buy notice none of these shows make any mention of holiday travel. While we occasionally see Santa in his sleigh, he certainly isn’t sitting in a depressing airport lounge waiting for a four hour flight delay to pass.

Holidays are a great time because they give you a chance to loaf. If you’re traveling out of town to a family home, you can anticipate spending a few days of eating too much, sleeping a lot, watching football and pretending to explain gifts to a child while you are really playing with them. Everyone looks forward to these family gatherings.

Nobody looks forward to actually going through the process of traveling to family gatherings. Travel by airplane, and you have to sit in crowded airports, suffer through connecting flights, pray the weather doesn’t act up and, of course, wedge yourself into a seat made for a super model. There is also that moment of apprehension when the plane is loading and you hope not to get stuck to “drunk guy”, “gonna get sick guy”, “cute, hyperactive child” or an insurance salesman. All of these downfalls are multiplied when you travel with your kids.

Being a child is about having fun and exploring your surroundings. Sitting in an airport for 5 hours is not conducive to such things. The old Stapelton Airport in Denver used to have a giant waiting room that was painted in dark red. When the weather acted up, it was like getting a 10 hour preview of hell. As miserable as you might be with delays, your child will be ten times worse off. So, what do you do?

In this age of the gadget, there is always the video game. There problem, however, is there something disturbing about watching a child’s eyes glaze over as he digitally kills monsters, other humans or whatever happens to be on the screen. One has to wonder what society will be like in another 20 years or so when these video game experts come to the forefront.

A better solution to your child’s boredom would be to get them engrossed in something that actually helps their minds grow. Books are great, particularly the latest installment of Harry Potter which is sure to keep them engrossed for a few hours. Another option is to give the writing journals, and tell them to write down things such as their impressions of the trip, all the important things they experienced during 2005 and so on. Both of these options will keep them from being miserable as well as develop a skill other than pressing a button as fast as humanely possible.

Travel can be a frustrating chore. No matter if for business of for pleasure when traveling many of us neglect to bring certain items that could make a trip much easier for us. These must have items can make travel comfortable again.

You need an Itinerary. It does not matter if you are traveling for business or for pleasure you want to keep your days organized. Make all your travel arrangements ahead of time and leave a contact number in case someone needs to get in touch with you.

Take your own personal care items. There are some items that no one should have to do without. Toothbrush, clean undergarments, and cash should be on you at all times as you travel. Keep in a little travel bag and place in your carry on luggage. Remember to place your tickets and passport in your carry on bag as well to keep from losing them!

What clothing should I bring? Before getting ready to travel check the weather conditions for the area you are going to visit and pack accordingly. Remember to pack for the activities you plan on doing. For travel purposes pack clothing that is hard to wrinkle.

Choosing what shoes to bring can be the hardest decision to make when you travel. Most of us have dozens of pairs of shoes and many we like to wear on a regular basis. But shoes take up valuable suit case space. Choose at least one pair of shoes that are comfortable to wear when sight seeing or walking. The others shoes you choose should depend on what activities you plan to do while you travel.

If you take any form of medication on a regular basis you need to bring it with you when you travel. Remember to bring any over the counter medicines that you might need for allergic reactions, general pain or basic first aid. You should always travel with a basic first aid kit.

Your luggage contains all of your possessions; when you travel make sure it is secure. Lock your luggage and make sure it has labels. Make sure your name is clearly visible on the label and for added security label the inside as well

Travel is about enjoying the experience follow these basic principles and have a stress free time as you embark to your travel destination.

Whether going on a Gap Year, Career Break or Adventure Overseas travel one of the most important things you often want are good photographs. Here are my 20 Top Tips.

Buying a Camera 1. With the internet becoming more and more popular you have a chance to shop around and get the best deal possible. However be careful and check where you are buying from, be careful if the product is being shipped from abroad and check it comes with all the cables and the correct power supply! If its sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Unfortunately internet fraud is a growing business.2. If you are going abroad and will be taking photos of wildlife then get a camera with a decent optical zoom (and I mean optical zoom, not digital zoom). For holidays involving wildlife try and get a camera with 10x optical, otherwise the animals may look like ‘pin pricks’ when you look at them later.3. Learn how to use a new camera before you go away. Have a play with the camera and learn about all the functions. Take the manual with you, just incase you need to be reminded.4. Memory cards are coming down in price now, so by as large as possible. Try not to buy the 256meg cards as you’ll spend more time worrying about how many photos you have left and may miss “the perfect photo opportunity”.5. Cameras today still use lots of power (especially if using flash). Take plenty of batteries with you and if possible buy a camera with rechargeable batteries (you’ll save money in the long run).Flash.6. Don’t always use red eye function on your camera. If you are using a digital camera and it has a function to reduce red eye, DON’T always use it! It will flash a number of times before it takes the photo and will prepare the people for the photo and all you will get are unnatural photos. Also your subject will look away as they think the first flash is the photo and your left with the sides of peoples heads! Use the normal flash and fix the red eye when you get home with your photo editing software. 7. Fill-in-flash. If you’re taking photos in bright sunshine then try use a flash. This will help remove the shadows and harsh contrasts. 8. Only use flash indoors if you really have to. Flash has a horrible habit of making the photo look very harsh and flat. Composition 9. When taking a photo don’t keep the subject in the middle of the frame. A photo will normally look better if the subject is off-centre. 10. Movement. If for example you are taking a photo of someone on a bicycle then keep a bigger gap on the side of the photo where the person is heading. This will give a sense of movement. 11. Don’t zoom in too tight as you may chop off heads and parts of the image you wanted. Instead leave the final editing until you get home. 12. Keep the horizon straight. When taking photos with a horizon, make sure the horizon is horizontal. There’s nothing worse than the sea going downhill! 13. When taking photos of animals or people, focus on their eyes. 14. Get on the same level as your subject. If taking a photo of say a child, get on your knee and take the photo at their level. A photo looking down on a child or an animal looks bad! 15. If you have to explain the grey dot is an elephant then the photo probably wasn’t worth taking! General

16. Make sure you have insurance! Never go away without insurance, if your camera gets stolen or damaged you’ll want to replace it ASAP so you don’t ruin your holiday. Take a photo of your camera equipment before you go away and leave a copy of the photo and a copy of the insurance policy with your family just in case. 17. Don’t risk loosing all your photos! Make a plan to back up your photos as you travel. Maybe visit an internet cafe occasionally and upload your best photos to a site such as Photobucket.com (which is free). 18. Don’t walk around with your camera round your neck!! Keep it out of sight whenever possible to reduce the risk of crime. 19. Be in some of the photos. Use the self timer or get someone you know to take a photo of you. Your family really wants to see you in some photos having a good time, they don’t really care that much about everyone else you meet on your travels! 20. Don’t take photos of dull snow or water. Often when taking photos in snow or against the sea, you will often take a photo and then when you view it looks dull and dark. This is caused by the cameras light metre over compensating. To fix this change your light metre (to over expose by +1 to +2 stops), read the manual if you are not sure how to do this. AND DON’T FORGET TO TURN IT OFF AFTERWARDS OTHERWISE ALL THE PHOTOS YOU TAKE AFTER WILL BE OVEREXPOSED!!!

 Contact Us

Millions of people suffer from chronic pain. More people call out sick from work because of chronic pain than call out sick because of the common cold. Chances are you or someone you know suffers from chronic pain.

Pain is a necessary part of life. It alerts us when something is wrong with our bodies. It’s normal to experience pain with an illness or injury. Normally, this pain fades as the injury heals or the sickness goes away. This is referred to as acute pain. Pain becomes chronic when it continues after the healing time of the injury. This pain can hang on for months or even years and often causes depression in its sufferers.

Chronic pain can also occur as the result of an ongoing condition, like fibromyalgia, arthritis, or cancer. Back injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and migraine headaches are some other examples of conditions that cause chronic pain. Some pain can result from injury to the nerves causing them send false signals to the brain.

How massage affects your pain is partly dependent on its source. If your pain is caused by a muscle injury massage can not only help ease the pain but also help speed the healing process.

Pain causes a vicious cycle of muscle contraction. When you experience pain in a particular area the muscles around the area contract to protect the injured region. When the muscle is tightly contracted less blood can flow to the area causing the region to be starved of oxygen. The contracted muscle also holds in toxins. All this causes the region to experience more pain, thus causing the muscles to contract further. Massage can help loosen constricted muscles around an injured area, increase blood flow and help flush out toxins.

Some chronic pain occurs because a nerve becomes entrapped in a tight muscle. This type of pain presents as tingling, numbness or a burning sensation. Loosening the tight muscle releases the nerve and eases the pain.

Massage lowers stress hormones caused by pain and raises the feel good hormone serotonin. The Touch Institute located in Miami has done many studies on the affects of massage of sufferers of chronic pain. In one such study, fibromyalgia patients were given massage twice a week for thirty minutes. A control group was taught relaxation exercise and did those exercises twice a week. At the end of the study both groups showed improvement, but the massaged group had greater improvement. They felt less pain in general, slept better and had less depression.

If you suffer from chronic pain making massage therapy part of your treatment routine could help ease your pain and lessen your dependence on pain killing drugs. In the long run this will lead to less drug side effects and better health.

What is the Benefit of a Diagnostic Based Pain Assessment for treating Chronic Pain with Medical Massage? Medical Massage Therapy, when combined with Diagnostic Testing, as part of a Comprehensive Pain Assessment, can be a highly effective tool for Chronic Pain Management.

Can Medical Massage treat Chronic Pain effectively without a Diagnostic Based Pain Assessment? Without a Diagnostic Testing based Pain Assessment, the Massage Therapist can only guess and make assumptions at what the appropriate Chronic Pain Treatment Plan for a patient should be.

Is the Pain Assessment the same thing as a Diagnosis? Although it uses Diagnostic Testing, a Pain Assessment is not the same thing as a Diagnosis. A diagnosis is made by a Doctor and is used to specifically identify an illness, disease, or medical condition. A Diagnostic Pain Assessment is a compilation of information that is gathered and evaluated in order to derive an appropriate plan of treatment.

Is the same type of Pain Assessment used for all parts of the Body? The same type of Pain Assessment is not used for all parts of the human body. A Lower Back Pain Assessment is not the same as a Shoulder Pain Assessment or a Elbow Pain Assessment, but a Fibromyalgia Pain Assessment can consist of all of the above.

What kind of Information is used in the Pain Assessment? The assessment information that is used to develop a treatment plan includes the patient’s Pain Scale, their Medical History, an objective observation of symptoms, biomechanical (analysis of posture, and body locomotion) diagnostic testing, and palpation (analyzing soft tissue by feel).

What is a Pain Scale? The Pain Scale is defined as the amount of pain that a person is experiencing in a specific part of the person’s body on a scale of 0 to 10, where zero is no pain, and 10 is un bearable pain. 1-4= functional, 5-7=extreme discomfort and difficulty with functionality, 8-9=pain so great that the person is bed-ridden. As part of the Assessment, the patient is given pictures of the human body and is asked to list the specific pain levels on the pictures that give the representation of the patient’s pain.

Why is Medical History so important? It is very important for the patient to reveal their Medical History because it helps the health practitioner to better understand the historical factors effecting a person’s pain, such as the medications that the person is taking, the time of day when the pain is at its worst, what forms of treatment has helped the patient, and what forms of treatment have not helped the patient.

How does Observation help the Assessment? Observation of a patient’s symptoms may involve a Postural Analysis, to determine if a patient has good posture or bad posture as a possible source of their pain and will help to improve posture where improvement can be made. An externally rotated foot can indicate a leg length difference that could have a factor on Lower Back Pain. Forward Shoulder rotation can reveal posterior Shoulder Pain as well as Thoracic Back Pain. A Gait Analysis can reveal a limp or favoritism of a limb.

What is Biomechanical Testing? Biomechanical Testing involves the analysis of body motion and movement within identifiable specific planes of that motion and movement. This could involve AROM-Active Range of Motion, PROM-Passive range of Motion, Resistive and other special tests that could possibly help to uncover the source of a person’s pain.

What is Palpation and what does it involve? Palpation is the analysis of soft tissue by feel and is an important part of the information gathering process. Texture, temperature, and tone are important factors that let the practitioner know the health of the soft tissues that are involved with a person’s chronic pain. The Joint Mobility Test is a critically important diagnostic Palpation test that is used to determine whether or not the spinal column is a chronic pain syndrome contributor.

A Diagnostic Based Pain Assessment enables a systematic approach to Chronic Pain Management. An organized Diagnostic based Pain Assessment is the first critical and mandatory step in systematically developing a divide and conquer treatment strategy for the reduction and possible elimination of chronic pain. It is one of the factors that determines the ability and skill of clinical and medical massage therapists to provide patients with new hope, strategies and tactics in the battle against chronic pain.
